How Much Luggage is Allowed on SWISS Air?

SWISS air, as the name depicts, swiss stands for Switzerland, and air stands for Airline. Switzerland’s flag-carrying Airline. Headquartered at Zurich Airport, Swiss International maintains 92 aircraft and flies to 102 destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. The amount of your baggage depends on your cabin class. So to know more about the SWISS airline baggage policy, read this article further.

What is the SWISS air baggage policy?

SWISS air carry-on baggage

On all SWISS flights, all passengers, whether an adult or children with their seats receive a piece of complementary hand baggage. If you are flying First and Business classes, you are allowed two hand baggage pieces, and the weight should be 8 kilograms. It should be at most 55 x 40 x 23 cm. However, Economy class ticket holders can only bring one bag of the same size. If you’re flying to or from that country and have luggage concerns, it’s best to call Swiss International Airlines customer service to understand the exact restrictions for your flight. We prefer less hand baggage as less hand baggage is more convenient. With less hand baggage, you board the aircraft more quickly, enjoy more comfort on board and contribute to the punctuality of your flight.

Other items that are permitted to carry:

  • You can carry a laptop bag with a full measure of 40 x 30 x 10 cm.

  • One pair of crutches, other kinds of prostheses, or medical equipment.

SWISS Air-Checked Baggage

On SWISS flights, if you are traveling on a classic flight, then you are allowed 28 kg of baggage, and if you are traveling in an economy class, then the weight should be two bags of 32kg. Infants have baggage rights, too, on Swiss International! They’re all entitled to collapsible pushchairs, no matter the fare. Additionally, babies can also check one baggage item that doesn’t weigh more than 23 kilograms if they’re not flying “light.”

The size of a 128 cm bag is allowed on SWISS international flights.

SWISS Air Excess Baggage

If your baggage exceeds the allotted weight, you must pay the baggage fee to check each additional item. The oversized baggage rate applies to each bag. Connecting flights within 24 hours is one route, so there will be no more charges if you already give your extra baggage fare. Outward and return flights must be paid separately in the local currency of the departure airport. You can also give your excess baggage fee while booking the flight or give them at the airport.

Baggage service

If your baggage has yet to arrive on time, then SWISS air will compensate you for that. You have to report your luggage to the lost and found office. As soon as your luggage is found by the SWISS, they will take it to your destination. If your baggage came late when you were abroad, you can send the written loss report and copies of the purchase receipts by post. And the SWISS will give you compensation for that.
